"No AI: Your Words Stay Yours"

Fleuron has no AI writing features. This article explains what that means for your books, and the few times Fleuron uses the internet at all.

No AI writing features

Fleuron doesn't write, rewrite, summarise or suggest text for you. Nothing you write is ever sent to an AI company or used to train AI.

The tools that look at your writing work on your own computer:

  • The Manuscript Health Check counts overused words, repeated phrases, long sentences and the like. See Manuscript Health Check.
  • Find Names in Book… in the Codex suggests names, places and other things from your text for you to add. See The Codex.
  • Read Aloud uses the voices that come with your Mac, so it's free and private. See Read Aloud.

Your books stay on your computer

Your books are saved as Fleuron book files (.fleuron) wherever you choose on your Mac. That can be your Dropbox, Google Drive, OneDrive or iCloud folder if you like, but nothing is uploaded to Fleuron. See Saving, Files and Backups.

When Fleuron goes online

Fleuron works offline. It only uses the internet when you ask it to, and it never sends your book's text:

  • Google Fonts: when you browse More Fonts from Google…, each font's name is shown in its own letters, fetched from Google. Adding a font downloads it once, and then it works offline. See Fonts.
  • Fetch from Amazon (beta): when you type your book's ASIN, Fleuron reads that book's Amazon listing to fill in the details. See Fetch from Amazon.

Telling the stores about AI

Amazon KDP asks whether your book contains AI-generated text, images or translations. Fleuron keeps your answers ready to copy into KDP: open Title Info, choose the Publishing tab, and fill in AI-generated text, AI-generated images and AI-generated translations under Kindle eBook Content. If you wrote the book yourself, choose None.

Note: These answers are kept with your book for you to copy. Fleuron doesn't send them anywhere.
